Ken Griffey, Sr. is 2024 Old Timers Banquet Speaker

Outfielder for Cincinnati Reds “Big Red Machine”

NASHVILLE, TN – November 21, 2023 –

Ken Griffey, Sr., who spent two seasons in Seattle as a father-son combo with Ken Griffey, Jr., will be the featured speaker at the 86th annual Old Timers banquet.

In 2,097 games over nineteen seasons, Griffey posted a .296 lifetime batting average while accumulating 2,043 hits. He finished his career with a .981 fielding percentage primarily as an outfielder.

A three-time All-Star, his book, “Big Red: Baseball, Fatherhood, and My Life in the Big Red Machine” reflects on his time as a scout, coach, and manager along with his accomplishments as a father to sons Ken, Jr., and Craig.

Since 1999 the Old Timers Baseball Association of Nashville has awarded over 350 scholarships worth $675,000, presented at the annual banquet held each year. Scholarship applications are being accepted from any high school senior baseball player in the Nashville area. The deadline to submit is December 15, 2023; an application is available at otbaseball.com/scholarships.

The banquet is scheduled for Sunday, January 14, at the Sonesta Nashville Airport, formerly the Marriott. The banquet doors open at 5:30, and the event begins at 6:30 PM.
